Waveshare usb to can

Hi , I’m hoping I will find some help here I have pytes v5a a venus os pi4 and a washare usb to can adapter the new one with 120 resistance now my issue is I tried all the variants in VeCansetup but non of the works so I can see it on the pi I’m not talking about communication it does not even show up , can anyone point me what I’m doing wrong please?

Thank you

Looks like this adapter may use a proprietary protocol so it’s not going to work natively or with VeCanSetup.

GS USB protocol should work natively in VenusOS without VeCanSetup.

slcan protocol requires VeCanSetup to configure the port properly. Victron does not recommend slcan interfaces as they have been known to drop packets.

can you give me a model that would work ok ? should it be a hat? so I dont buy the wrogn one again  thanks

Victron used to list several they have tested but I can’t find it any longer.

I used a CANable device. These come with slcan firmware but can be refreshed for GS USB (aka Candlelight).

I am sure there are many others out there.

I have used various Waveshare CAN hats succesfully.
