when will it finally be possible to use virtual devices for DC?
I would really like to add a DC-PV or DC generation device that isn’t controlled by the GX!
It would also sometimes be very useful to be able to tell the main GX how much PV power is coming in via other systems!
Or to record DC consumers for which you have the data but don’t want to install an additional SmartShunt!
the same applies to DC consumers, such as a second Victron system on the same battery; otherwise, the DC values and power values of the systems are completely wrong!
with additional software, yes; unfortunately, not with the virtual device in Node-RED!
of course, I could emulate a BMV/SmartShunt/MPPT and transfer the data serially or over the network to the Cerbo using socat. Displaying the data in a Node-RED GUI isn’t a problem; the issue is that the Cerbo itself can’t do anything with this data!
and a PV inverter isn’t any use to me either: the power does arrive, but on the DC side rather than the AC side! And rewiring all the charge controllers to the Cerbo is out of the question too, as I would then need a whole load of new VE.Direct connection cables.
