VRM shortcuts: GX reboot & one-time charge

I have 2 feature requests for VRM I wanted for a long time, but I have never posted them anywhere.

For ESS or grid-connected systems without ESS:

  • Where I live, we often have storms coming that knock out power in parts of the town… When a storm is approaching, I like to recharge batteries for my clients for the duration of the worst part of the storm… Most of them usually have ESS enabled to cycle the batteries every day… So when the storm is coming, I switch the ESS settings to keep batteries charged… But since I manage multiple installations, I often forget to switch this back off after the storm or I forget what the setting was (battery life or no battery life) … So I would like a button in VRM that upon clicking will trigger one time full charge of batteries and then revert back to the previous state after done… This would be useful for systems with ESS assistant and systems with grid available but having some AC ignore conditions…

For all systems:

  • A button in VRM to trigger an instant GX device reboot (for example in Device List)… Here the internet is quite slow, so connecting via remote console and going through the menus takes forever…

A VRM reboot would be great, I’ve also been in situations where I’m getting VRM connectivity and system value updates coming through but can’t access the remote console to perform a reboot.

you used to be able to access the diagnostics page on VRM and use a reboot button at the bottom of that, however, that option appears to have disappeared from VRM. You access the diagnostics page using

https://vrm.victronenergy.com/installation/000000/diagnostics

where the 000000 is the number that usually comes up when accessing the normal page for your install.

Yes, at some point there was a bug inside Cerbo and the workaround was to reboot Cerbo after firmware update.
Once the bug was solved, the reboot option was removed.
Too bad, it was a good option…
