VRM Android app login fails with Chrome but works with Firefox

Hi,

I am experiencing a login issue with the VRM Android app.

When I tap Login in the VRM app, it opens the Victron OneID authentication page in Google Chrome. I can enter my credentials and authenticate, but after login the browser does not return correctly to the VRM app, so the app remains logged out.

I tried the following without success:

  • Cleared Chrome cache and cookies
  • Cleared VRM app data
  • Force stopped the VRM app
  • Uninstalled the VRM app
  • Restarted the phone
  • Reinstalled the latest VRM app from Google Play

I then changed the Android default browser from Google Chrome to Firefox and repeated exactly the same login process.

With Firefox it worked immediately: after Victron OneID authentication, the process returned correctly to the VRM app and the session was established.

After completing the login with Firefox, the VRM app works normally.

This seems to indicate an issue with the VRM / Victron OneID authentication callback or deep-link handling when Chrome is the default browser on Android.

Chrome: login fails to return to VRM
Firefox: login completes successfully and returns to VRM

Please let me know if you need any additional information, logs, Android version, Chrome version or VRM app version to investigate this.

I’m having a similar issue. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE 5G with One UI: version 8.5; Android version: 16; VRM version 3.0.10

The difference is I can’t login successfully and use the VRM app even if I change the default browser to Firefox. I have tried it with these browsers Brave, Samsung and Firefox.
