Love being able to do the basic configuration for my split phase MP-IIs directly via VC vs. having to go VE.Bus Quick Configure.
Once the VE.Bus is done scanning, it shows a single MP-II. Only after entering the password does it show up as a Split Phase system. When I make a configuration change on one unit and use the back button to change the other one, it takes me all the way back to My Devices instead of to the screen showing the 2 units, forcing another long “Connecting…” sequence, and the need to re-enter the password again.
Three basic request: 1) Allow for the password setting to be saved. 2) Have back go back to the Phase 1/Phase 2 screen. 3) Provide a “send to both units” option like VE.Bus Quick Configure has, for basic settings (“Copy settings to all” might be that functionality, but is awkward due to the back button behavior).
One advanced request (next version): Incorporate Assistant configuration, which would depreciate VE.Bus Quick Configure.
Another little thing: while VE.Bus and VC are connected they “lock” the inverters. I often receive odd messages like “Low Battery Alarm”, even if the batteries are at 53.5V and 75% SOC. Be nice if either the units were not locked (suspect there is a reason they are), or error messages were suppressed during that time.
The latter question is normal. Battery (BMS) connectivity is via the GX which won’t be able to communicate to the system while using VC/Mk3. If you are quick enough this usually isn’t an issue as there is a timeout for battery comms so it isn’t an issue during GX updates/reboots etc.
Ahh ok, I see now. I must have misread something here and in another VC beta thread that made me think that you couldn’t now configure MPs via VC through the GX on LAN (that’s was a lot of acronyms, eh?).
Though to be honest, I’m still not sure I understand why you can’t. If the MK3 and the Cerbo both attach to the same port shouldn’t it just be a matter of software for the Cerbo to be able to configure the MP? Especially considering it can write a config file to it over VRM.
The VictronConnect-Remote feature is ONLY compatible with products connected to a GX product with a VE.Direct or a VE.Can-
only interface. VE.Can devices that have both a VE.Can AND a VE.Direct interface, must be connected to the GX device via
VE.Direct for VictronConnect-Remote to work.
Products connected with a VE.Bus interface, such as MultiPlus/Quattro inverter/chargers and larger Inverters are NOT
compatible. However, another feature Remote VEConfigure already exists to configure these products remotely.
Yes, sorry, I get that. I’m referring to the possibility of that changing. As in I don’t see why it couldn’t be done. Is there some sort of special hardware in the MK3 that the Cerbo (and other GX devices) don’t have that prevents it?
I suspect it is down to requests from the app conflicting/blocking with management comms from the GX that can cause issues. Same reason you are not supposed to connect the mk3 and the GX simultaneously.
If it was simple, I can assure you it would have happened already.
