Hi all - I have a new full Victron system (Cerbo, Lynx, Li, etc) with an Arco Zeus 275 alternator. Things work great until I hit 100% charged, at which point the BMS dials back the charge rate (as expected), at which point the Arco throws a ‘no tach detected’ fault and won’t charge until I completely restart the system. Not sure if the problem is on the Victron or Arco side. Wondering if anyone else has seen this?
I have a Wakespeed WS500 rather than a Zeus and the same may apply. If the field current is reduced to zero when the batteriesare full, some alternators have enough residual magnetism to generate a tacho signal, mine does, but others do not. In this case on the WS500 you have to set a minimum field drive of 2-5% of max so you keep a tacho signal. I expect the Zeus is the same. Do not set this too high or the output will not drop to zero.
