Victron MP II 48/5000

I am upgrading from a 3000VA to a 5000VA, 120v single phase only. I am connecting to the breaker panel for AC-in ONLY, no back feed to the grid. I had planned on using a single-pole 30A breaker, but the MP manual says I should be using a 95A breaker. I will never-ever need this kind of current from the grid. My plan at this point is to stay within the 30A, again with single phase. Am I ok sticking with the smaller breaker and limiting my current in the settings to 30A or even 28A? I’ll be using 10ga wire.

Edit: I’m talking about the circuit breaker in the main panel, suppling the MP with AC in power, which I turn around and charge my batteries and supply a 30A single phase transfer switch.

You’re definitely okay to downsize the breaker, yes, just be sure to set the AC Input Current Limit a bit below the rating of the breaker you use to avoid nuisance tripping.

Thanks very much. I was struggling to find a 95A single pole breaker (or similar amperage) for the main panel and I realized that I was limited to 30A single phase in the transfer switch so it didn’t matter.

I did notice that the transfer switch doesn’t have a breaker limiting the overall input to 30A. Should I be installing an AC breaker between the MP and the transfer switch? What would that look like or what kind would that be?
