Concerning ESS & being to slow due to communication delay or physical delays NOT true! I made a PID regulator in node red as test. What happens is that the current ESS regulator isn’t programmed to be predictive. When grid demand rises the compensation moment is to late aswell in the rising as as downhill curve. The regulator changed the gridsetpoint positive or negative (rather agressive to trigger the normal regulator). The result no more positive overshoot off the reference gridsetpoint set at -100W. Conclusion adapt the software to the speed off the current meters which is 200ms update (my impression is that the software still works at lower speed then the actual meters); regulate based on how fast the value rises (make the regulator predictive instead off regulating after the facts) result reducing the typical overshoot.
Hi,
A request for enhancement:
Make sure all (old and newer) applications running in MS Window also available in Linux native (AppImage), I want to be not longer dependent on MSFT to run my energy grid.
I’m currently running Wine with MS Window applications like the VE.Config app, would like to run it without Wine.
BRGDS Bertrand
sorry, i don´t get that all
what are your wishes /expectations?
We have 25kWp of PV, just one MP2-3000
Today we “harvested” about 125kWh from the sun, parts were used, parts were given to the net
From the net we took about 200 Wh
What kind of improvements should i look for? reduce these 200Wh?
Hi @bertrand,
I second your request for enhancement.
One of my windows machines ended up with a corrupted SSD in August last year. This was as a result of MSFT update Tuesdays. When searching the web it become evident that many end users were effected by similar issues.
I am currently busy migrating to linux on bare metal and Wine emulation.
Victron does have VictronConnect for Linux. It seems to function without any problems.
The Cerbo GX etc runs a minimalistic linux o/s.
For you info
I’m running the window VE.config application over Linux using Wine…
The only caveats you need to be aware of is to make sure the USB (VE.PORT) port is recognized by Wine as COMx port
There is lots of tuto in google explaining how to do it and it is easy.
The ask is to have VE.config in native Linux in the future ![]()
