I am looking to connect my ESS to the public grid and I am looking to find the best way to both generate that power and to convert it into the best format as efficiently as possible.

I currently do not have a Multiplus or Quattro installed but have a Cerbo GX with three MPPT controllers totaling 2,400 watts of PV power (With 1,200 watts of panels installed but more on the way), a 1,200 watt phoenix inverter, BMV-712, smartshunt, and a Blue Smart IP22 30A charger.

My question is it more efficient to install a Multiplus/Quattro and purchase a device such as a grid tie inverter or whatever is necessary to allow me to connect my ESS to the public grid in the US. I have already specked out that my power provider offers Solar Buy Back so I am set there. I am looking for the best way to connect and convert the two systems together for a US home. Or do i simply get the grid tie inverter and directly connect the solar panels to that using a PV Inverter.

My goal is to power my home with solar and maybe wind or other renewables, use the batteries for overnight power or for a grid failure and then only switch to grid power if i am not producing enough power or the batteries fall below a SOC set point or a market price. The market price isn’t critical but would be nice.

I currently have the inverter connected to a couple circuits in my house which are isolated from the grid running my fridge and freezer and network infrastructure along with 75% of the other house loads. I currently do not have the AC or Dryer powered via the inverter as they will require additional capacity.

Any help or info would be amazing as I am installing all of this on my own.

Hello, you have read the previous forum (read only now) [https://community.victronenergy.com](https://community.victronenergy.com) where you have many many many questions and experiences. That you could get familiar with the solutions and start designing something, learning from other experiences.
I learnt almost all i know of Victron there (after official Victron Web sites).

Good readings,

to achieve your aim of primarily generating your own power, you will need to upgrade to either a multiplus or Quatro inverter.

Direct connection of a PV inverter to the grid will not allow any easy control of storing that power, as it would be mostly exported to the grid.
