Victron Compact 12 1600 70, not charging from shore power

Hi all

Hoping someone can help?

Ive got a new to me Compact, I’m trying to get it to charge my battery, but there seems to be nothing happening even on charge only mode. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Have you disabled virtual switch?

Hi, it doesn’t seem to have one?

It has very old firmware on it.
What is the HQ number on it?

Sorry where do i find that please?

Found this sticker?

Did you bought it as “new”?
That device is over 15 years old.

Please show us all settings.

Apologies. Dinner time.

That sticker doesn’t say much.

There is one on the board on a chip near the switch i think. Might start with 19 or 26

Yeah once i saw the sticker i was like… Wow

new to me, I don’t know how long it was actually used for. Seller told me it all worked 4 yes ago when he dismantled his array.

Do you have another way to charge your battery?

Not at the moment, are you thinking charge that battery and see what happens?

Also, what should I be doing with the dip switches? At the moment everything is off apart from no.2. If I switch that one off it does nothing, no power or connection to VE configure.

All settings

Are these two components actually as crispy as they look, or is that just a trick of the light in the photo?

I also see potential evidence of rust / corrosion / water damage several other places on that board alone… seller might not have been lying, but 4 years is a long time to just sit, especially when it was already a super old unit:

Personally I’d suggest fully disconnecting from all sources of power, making sure the caps are discharged safely, and then going over every bit with a magnifying glass to verify whether there is or is not water or other damage to the PCBAs and other parts of the unit.

Hi

It’s just a trick of the light the board is clean of corrosion, the bit on the yellow thing was a bit of dust.

Is something connected there:

The settings looking good, it should work.

Something slightly weird is going on. One screenshot shows 46v output one 230. Where it is connected to the grid 230v

Maybe try with the digital mutli control not connected and keep it simple for now using the rocker switch.

It’s just plugged into the wall at the moment at home.

I can’t seem to make the dip switches save, maybe I’m getting the procedure wrong.

I understand it as. Put all the switches into the correct positions.

1 off

2 on

3 off

4 on

567 off

Then toggle 8 on the off again?

Don’t use the DIP switches if you have a MK3.
You could try to reset the settings to default, there is an option for that in the menu.

The DIP switch configuration you have on the picture is the default and should work.

If nothing works it might be defective.
