Unfortunately I need a VE.CAN to CAN BMS cable of 5.5 meters length? But I can’t find any longer than 5 m. Is there a solution?
Just make yourself a cable, following all the rules for a correct cabling.
I know… This way of thinking is not encouraged, but I bet 90% of the people will do it anyway.
I don’t know if Victron sell longer than that cables and using extension connectors will just generate additional points of failure from the imperfect contact that may appear and in the end an in house made continuous cable could be better.
Where a custom cable is needed, just invest/borrow the correct crimping gear and make your own.
My entire home is wired with self made networking cables which operate at far higher speeds than CAN and work perfectly.
It can be fiddly if you have not done it before and it is easy to make a bad cable if inexperienced, but with proper care and attention, there are no issues doing so.
OK, I forgot to mention that I have two left hands only, and that I definitely don’t want to make a cable. Probably I have to pay somebody to do the work for me …
Well, that works too…
But be sure you pick the right person for the job.
Any person would be better than me
You might consider purchasing any 1:1 default Cat 5 ethernet cable and use this as extension.
E.g. Google for Goobay 73386
The type A or type B will make the required pin assignemet for your inverter and the 1:1 extension the required length without changing the pin assignement
Thank you, Janvi, this is exactly the answer that will help me.
