USB Wifi Adapters - Does anyone know what chipsets Victron Supports?

Hi Folks;

I’ve bought and am now returning two different USB Wifi adapters that did not work with the Cerbo GX II.

Product purchase decisions would be much easier if I knew what radio chipset Victron supports, ie. RTL8821CU etc.

Can anyone provide a list of the radio chipsets Victron coded support for?

There’s a short list in the manual, you could likely work out others from there: 7. Internet connectivity

Yeah, I’m talking about the actual chipset in the radio itself. If I knew which ones were supported I could narrow down my search dramatically.

It’s always so much work with Victron. OK, it looks like…

Asus USB-N14 is Ralink RT5372

Startech USB300WN2X2D Ralink RT3572L

Zyxel NWD2105 Ralink RT3070

Gembird WNP-UA-002 RT3072L

Netgear A6210-100PES MediaTek MT7612U

I can’t find any brand name for the little USB chit but it looks like adapters with the above chipsets should be supported.

Did you try enabling SSH and looking at lsusb for example while a USB wifi dongle was connected?

The builtin adapter shows up as Realtek 0bda:d723 which i believe is an RTL8723

RTL8187, RTL8192EU, RTL8723BU and RTL8723DU should be supported but there might be other manufacturers, heres the list of installed firmware packages that carry rtl in the name

I did not SSH into as I’m not familiar with the O/S but this brings to mind a question, is there anyway to pull up ALL supported adapter chipsets that the O/S comes with?

I’m having a terrible time finding a good adapter and it looks more and more like the only place to buy one (assuming I determine all the chipsets VenusOS supports) is to buy it off aliexpress direct from China…
