Has anyone successfully used an ethernet adapter to get from the Cerbo to a USB hub for extending the ve.direct? If so, which brand/model worked for you?

How long does your extension need to be?

50ish feet, but I cannot run an active USB cable due to conduit constraints. Don’t ask me how I know lol

ok,if you can’t extend the usb side, how about extending the VE direct side? that is either 3.3 or 5V logic signals plus power, so is reasonably extendable over a cat5 cable.

does your conduit have enough space for 6 cat 5 cables? If not,you would have to aggregate the controller’s data locally, then transmit it the 50’.

It may be possible to aggregate into a VE-Can signal, rather than ethernet.

No, I pulled 3 thru, but need 1 for VE.can and one for something else.

How do I add the ve.direct to ve.can?

Edit: I wasn’t trying to get it onto the Ethernet network, just use a USB/Ethernet adapter to go from USB → Ethernet cable → USB into the cerbo

So no-one has successfully extended their VE.Direct over any significant distance??? 40ish feet even?

Hi
Ihave solved it with a DIGI anywhereUSB box with 2 USB ports which installed close the other Inverter MPPT gear in the basement.
In case I need to doe some service on the multiplus I plug the MK3-USB between Anywhere USB and Multiplus and you can do all programming twith VE Configure through a new comport which can be selected in VE Configure. Also work with USB R485 converters and VE-Direct cable
Easy to access for anywhere within my locel ethernet network

Each port appears as a local COM port on my PC
Hope I could help you

Jürgen
