We have two energy meters configured with “heat pump” role:
Shelly EM measuring our heat pump
Virtual meter, measuring a whole-home dehumidifier (via MQTT).
I would expect VRM to add the individual kWh consumption of both meters, and show the total under the “heating” section of the consumption chart.
Instead, I’m seeing a conflict — where it seems VRM is only considering the reading from the “most recent” meter (though I’m not exactly sure, maybe it’s the lowest value meter).
As a test, for the first 1/2 hour I turned the heat pump ON and dehumidifier OFF. As can be seen, the bar chart correctly shows the “heating” consumption.
For the second 1/2 hour I turned the heat pump OFF and dehumidifier ON. As can be seen, the bar chart “total consumption” increased, but the “heating” reading actually decreased / reset and started counting up again.
Here are the total readings from both meters at the end of my test (I don’t totally understand the difference between Energy forward vs Total energy forward).
Now that we have at least 3 user reporting the same issue concerning >1 heatpump and incorrect VRM consumption display, can someone from Victron dispatch internally @nickdb?
We have no control over that, we try set the expectation that this isn’t a support or a ask victron site for that reason.
Maybe someone responds, maybe they don’t.
Shelly and the related integrations seem to be a work in progress, it will no doubt be resolved in time.

Voting isn’t enabled on the modifications section, it isn’t forum wide and not affected by tags. If there is no beta involved I will remove any beta tags.
Seems this issue has been resolved in the VRM beta portal ? Haven’t spend much time on it yet but I can see a lot more consumption tracking which makes sense as it’s 35 degrees here now so cooling has a huge contribution on heatpump consumption.
@Koen@kudos50 interesting! Can you tell if DESS is forecasting using the correct figures? I’ve always been confused by how that is handled in beta VRM vs production.
For now I’ve temporarily set up an “aggregate” energy meter in Home Assistant, which feeds data into a single virtual energy meter via MQTT. Would be nice to simplify.
For my setup it all seems to add up pretty good. Forecasting a little farther away is difficult to interpret. But my best guess is that’s not taking the weather into account that well.
The last days have been very hot and have caused my heat pumps to run overtime. Next week far lower temperatures are expected causing the heat pumps to stop running at night and probably most of the morning. The forecast does not reflect that.
@Barbara can you elaborate a bit on expectations and on the feedback you would like to receive ? Is the heat pump algorithm based on the ac loads algorithm and/or is it taking the weather into account ? One of my heatpumps is DHW only so it’ll be the same almost every day. But the rest is heat/cool. So it’s very much weather and sun dependent.
Yeah I can confirm this seems fixed in the current production VRM. I have 3 shelly devices connected both to Venus and to Home Assistant, configured as heat pumps, and the readings tie out.
