The system has been working for years 2x multi 2 (easysolar) 24/3000 single phase parallel. Now it fails the ground relay test and shuts itself down, errors, errors are on both units:
Unit 1 Error 11 step 8
Unit 2 Error 11 step 6
I basically physically disconnected all house L & N wiring from AC out (keeping both AC IN & Out of multis connected) to eliminate device failures/leakages by some appliance. No improvement. I measured grid N - PE and it shows 0 ohms. Multi when testing the relay, first has N & PE open then when test starts it closes it and opens rapidly when testing but resulting in an error.
Firmware update to 557, no change. Both units worked fine but I pushed the configs again, no change. Full power down & reboot no change.
Removing ESS and moving to plain off/on grid setup makes it connect to the grid and work again but this is de-prioritizing use of solar so not a solution. Is it an electronics fault? Hard to check which one fails as both report errors.
Thanks, Yep I went also through troubleshooting video about checking for N/PE problems. New firmware on both, I have MK3 so good access with VE tools. I doubt that after 2 years they rewired physically unless there’s some upstream fault in the grid itself. But after checking no faults are reported.
Yep probably need to break them down to individual units. Challenge is with easysolar both have GX units in and one needed to be physically disconnected as 2 are not allowed. So one of the units (slave) is dumb without the master (which has active GX in).
Sounds like a bad relay. Start with the unit on step 8.
Had a similar experience a few years back. Remember for any replacement to state the model (hardware id) and serial number of the remaining unit so you are supplied a compatible replacement. (Assuming hardware fault)
Now I am getting more confused, see error yesterday night then another today morning.
Different to the previous set.
0x808604 Step 6
0x808405 Step 4
These are below step 7 indicating grid problem, but previous were also with Step 8 next to Step 6…
However now it hooked up to the grid and seems working for now. When I measured gird side N+PE I was getting some fluctuation of 0.00 - 0.25 - 0.01 Ohms. Considered this poor contact with the meter as the spot is hard to reach. Maybe it was something on the grid side…
Is there any log / debug data in GX about historical / grid parameters? It all started with two errors grid lost & ground relay test failure. Not sure which was first.
Have your distribution board checked; there may be a problem there (think broken neutral conductor), or the earth electrode may be developing high resistance. That could get nasty.
It’s also possible that work was carried out externally, or that distribution boxes were damaged in an accident (if the driver fled the scene, a cracked distribution box often goes unnoticed).
It appears working fine, I had contacted network operator and they said no faults, all was fine. So I remain uncertain where the fault was and could still be… if it went to pass-through no problem, but shutting down the entire house completely is an overkill. Why not to switch to isolate from the grid and invert only for as long as batteries permit? Perhaps it cannot know if PE is functioning locally with the test failing but in off-grid setup with ESS removed it did work anyway so…
To clarify any doubts the setup is hardwired on both AC In and AC Out in a house setting, not mobile, with N+PE delivered by the grid operator in the distribution box.
