The limiting support for SolarEdge PV inverter is disappearing the longer the GX device is running. A reboot of the GX device solves that issue for some hours or days. Then the limiting support is disappearing again. A further reboot solves the issue again for some time. I have continued this in a loop several times for weeks now with different FW versions in order to narrow it down as much as possible. Disappearing means limiting support is no longer visible on the GUI as well as limiting does indeed not work.
IMO this can be related to the following:
Quote from recent public Venus OS testing thread: “SolarEdge PV Inverters: Fix bug where limiter setup was repeated multiple times, increasing by one on each connection loss: after many connection losses, this would take progressively longer and longer to complete reconnection to an inverter.”
I have tested this with various versions of V3.70~ especially 88 and 96 as well as previous versions like V3.67. It’s everywhere the same behaviour. However there can be differences in the behaviour between the versions which I was not able to track.
The type where the limiting support is not working continously is a SE10K-RWS where no SE accessories are attached. It is connected to the local LAN via cable.
SE FW: 4.24.22, with this FW the issue is happening frequently and there a lots of missing data points in the VRM PV inverter power chart and the disappearing of the limiting support occurs more frequently.
After contacting SE support, they suggested for testing a FW downgrade to:
SE FW: 4.22.44, with this FW the data points are continously shown in VRM and the disappearing of the limiting support happens in a longer interval.
Currently the SE inverter is again running the newest SE FW 4.24.22.
The interesting thing is, I have the limiting support enabled on lot’s of SolarEdge inverters where it is working fine on the same tested SE FWs like above. But these are other types of SE inverters than the one in this case. Unfortunately I don’t have another SE-RWS inverter at hand for testing in order to find out if it is type based or not.
Remote support tunnel is open at this installation. I’d be happy if you can take a look at this. For VRM ID pls reply privately.
