Solar panels have volts but no current?

For those struggling like I was to understand why solar panels make voltage but no current.
The advice on the Internet wasn’t it.

If you at my image, the problem was too fold both at the same time.
My Hall Effect ammeter did not show current, as the wires were faulty
And
The resesetable fuse breaker is cheap, the volts got through but not allowing current, so the MPPT did not send any current.

The other problem in testing, I hooked up the multimeter plugs wrong.
I show normal mode and the moder for a 10A testing.

Hopes this helps someone.
People are right, solar panels, even second hand ones do not fail
I have both 2 yr old ones and second hand really old ones.
My problem was a lack of simple knowledge on setting up a multimeter to test
solar panel current
And a cheap resettable fuse, that let me down.
What a waste of time I had taking down 11 solar panels only to discover something else was wrong. Hope this helps someone. Rob

Assuming that the modules are not defective and that they are exposed to sunlight, then there is a very simple answer: There is no conductive connection between the modules. If there were a connection, current would inevitably flow.

Solar modules don’t generate electric current per se, but rather create a charge separation. This is like a battery, with a positive and negative pole. As long as there is no conductive connection between the poles, no current flows.

And in addition: when a battery is connected, and it’s fully charged, also not current will flow. Often asked by new solar users: why there is no solar power generated, or charging current with full sun.
