I use a SMA Tripower as an PV inverter as well as a MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-48, Firmware 508. The combination worked very well for more than a year now. The PV inverter was automatically detected by the Multiplus and its values were shown on the Dashboard as well as the VRM portal.
Suddenly, the PV inverter disappeared from the Dashbard as well as from the VRM portal.
Nevertheless, the inverter is still shown on the Remote Consoles “Inverter” Screen and visibility is set to “Yes”.
The follow screenshot shows, that it’s missing on the device list …
as well as on the dashboard:
Restarting the Multiplus as well as restarting the SMA inverter (also switching AC off and on again) didn’t solve the problem.
Modbus TCP on the SMA Tripower inverter works fine. I can read the Modbus TCP registers also from other systems.
Gateway Firmware: v3.50~28
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be or where to look deeper into the issue?
To add, when beta testing, roll back to official versions to confirm it is a new bug. Reading the change logs and known issues is important.
If it is a new issue and beta only, please don’t log in QA, use the dedicated beta categories. Thanks.
Thanks a lot for the replies, welcoming me to the community and moving the topic into the correct location.
You’re right: Reading the Changelogs of the latest beta would have brought me to the idea that it could have something to do with the latest SMA-related changes.
For testing purpose, I downgraded to v3.42, which didn’t show up the SMA inverter on the dashboard again.
Nevertheless, I’m now back on v3.50 and happy if you (@mpvader) would like to log in. Please let me know via PN which information you need from my end to access.
It looks like your SMA inverter has changed MODBUS address.
Can you please make sure the SMA Modbus profile is set to the default value of 3.
Looks like your inverter is now available on ID 4 which is not what is expected.
From an older SMA manual:
The Unit ID is a superordinate addressing type in the Modbus protocol. The Unit ID in the SMA
Modbus profile is freely configurable within the area 3 to 123. The default value is 3.
The Unit ID in the SunSpec Modbus profile for SMA products derives from the preset Unit ID in the
SMA Modbus profile + 123. The preset value for the Unit ID in the SunSpec Modbus profile is
therefore 126.
Luckily no beta-flaw in the firmware, only an error-77 issue (77 cm in front of the screen).
Thank you very much for the quick and very helpful support!
