Pls consider using special silver coated wires which are more resistant to salt in the air.
Should be covered in books about boat electrics.
Use them at least for high current DC connections to battery , inverter, charger, ankor winch.

Hi Bjorn, and thanks for your reply. I’ve already bought my new cables from a local supplier 
I went with tinned wire, and it was a bit expensive already. Silver sounds pretty great from what you describe, but this is a shoestring budget operation 
Interesting to know though. I had no idea they even made such a thing.
