My RV came with a single 200W solar package that included the MPPT 100|50 Smart Solar Controller. The trouble I am having is that there is an in line fuse between my panel and the entry plate. The natural bend of the wire is causing the fuse to loosen creating a bad connection. I am wondering if I need this fuse at all?
You do not need a fuse as long as the cable is rated for the maximum current of the solar panel with a bit of margin. The solar panel can not exceed this current so can not overload the cable, it is limited. Some people install a fuse so that you can remove the fuse to work on the MPPT, sort of like a switch/ breaker.
Fix the root cause of the problem - your installer may have had a good reason for that fuse.
If something is not secured properly and putting stress on the fuse holder, then fix that.
