Rpi4 Cerbo, smartshunt and Multiplus compact

Hi,

I just set up the following:

smartshunt on ve.connect t→ Cerbo GX

Multiplus Compact on VE.Bus→ CerboGX

Rpi4 to VE.Bus (through MK3)→ Cerbo GX

This seems to be working to the extent that I can see all data on the VRM and can control the Multiplus (on/chrger only/Inverter only/off).

I can also monitor the battery and see the Smartshunt.

When looking at the Rpi display I can see all, but the battery monitor is the Multiplus, can’t see the shunt at all.

I can’t control the Multiplus, the I click on the box in the control panel I have the on, off, charger only and inverter only but nothing happens when I push on the buttons.

The Multiplus is a few years and only has the “small cpu” hence my firmware is 209. get a warning in the VRM when I look at it, but the controls work anyway.

Can you see any issues with this set up ?

The viltron display - will it have the working controls?

Whent with the RPI due to the community, but maybe a mistake?

You can not have two GX devices in the same system. In your case that’s Cerbo and Rpi4.

Only one will work at a time and the other needs to be disconnected / powered down.

You could run a web browser on the PI (Raspberry PI OS) and connect to the Cerbo for display and control.

Thank you for clarifying this.

Is there no way to run the rpi as a ”display” device only ie. Not use it as a GX?

Hello Peter,

you connect with a webbrowser (of any device of your preference) to the webpage from the gx-device and you are done…

Have fun

Thanks Marc,

But then I have no use of the pi as I can use iphone or any tablet instead….

I never understood the limitation with the two GX devices, wanted the Cerbo to also connect to NMEA2000 as the rpi to nmea seems a little doggy.

This kind of sucks, but will have to get the Victron display.

Thanks for taking the time anyway.
