Reqeust support removing AC Current sensor

Hello Everyone,

System contains: 3x Multiplus II 48/5000/70-50 (one is the GX version)

Hopefully you can support me with removing the AC Current sensor assistant from a 3-phase system.

Our installer is long gone and the they installed AC current sensors on a Solaredge PV inverter to monitor the production of this PV inverter, however i have now enabled MODBUS which is fully operational but now experiencing issues that PV total production is that of the AC current sensor + the MODBUS readout.

We prefer the Modbus so that Victron can be in control and limit the PV using sunspec when needed (neg prices etc).

I have just picked up my MK3 USB from Victron to be able the remove the assistant.

From the training etc. what i have found i need to perform the following steps:

  • Connect MK3-USB to VE-direct port on the Multiplus-II with an available port (3x multi are connected via VE-bus so first and last in line have a VE port unused)

  • Use VE.Bus system configurator to connect to the system

  • Configure - Comport - Autodetect
    It says all to disconnect all accessories, i have a AC current sensor on each multi and one Victron MPPT (do i need to disconnect these for this?) Also the GX version does not count as an accessory i would assume?

  • Select phase 1, right click multi - > VE configure multi (repeat for each phase)

  • Save current configuration (for good measure )

  • Using VE config go to assistants tab

  • Select AC current sensor

  • Click Delete assistant

  • Then save configuration (for good measure )

  • Send Settings (modified settings only / to this device)

  • Repeat for all units

  • Disconnect MK3-USB

Can you please let me know if this is the correct way, for my peace of mind?

The changes should also be made remotely via VRM VEConfigure, so no one needs to be on-site.

You may need to disconnect the GX it can interfere with the mk3 to usb and inverter detection. Try jjst programming first though. Its a bit more awkward in the all in ones.

Be aware that if you are using a can connected bms it might shut down after a period of time. (Cant remember what it is but maybe 5 minutes.)

A futher thought. Do it without loads on the system as well and switch off all ac pv, and the grid.

Sometimes this is easier as it gives you time to reprogram.
If you don’t want to do it over the VRM and still use the mk3 locally, download the vrm one so you can practice first.

So you think remote Ve-configure would be easier as using the mk3?

so then I just download the file, make the changes, save and upload correct?

I already practiced this using the VE remote configure so i had an idea how it looks / worked, however for some reason my pv inverter (the one I was trying to delete) disappeared from the overview and device list had “last seen 3 hours ago” however i never uploaded the practice file… coincidence I guess?? After GX reboot it returned.

what would you say would be more “safe” just a waste that I bought the adapter :joy:

An MK3 interface is like a Swiss Army knife—you can do anything with it.

But honestly, I’d do it via VRM.

You can take your time preparing everything and then upload it at the end.
Full remote configuration is one of Victron’s biggest strengths!

It is never a waste to own the adapter. Sometimes site recovery can only be done in person. I leave one by all the ve bus three phase systems installed.

DirkW and LX want to thank the both of you for the support, did the change yesterday via remote configure and it worked like a charm. No more double PV production messing with the DESS :slight_smile:

This change was with my in-laws (same installer, same system) so extra pressure haha, i need to do it on my own system as well if Enphase was not so unreliable with their modbus..
