Question about new solar configuration on board

I have a sailing boat in Greece with 4x 100 Ah lead batteries in serie ( 3x service and 1x start) and a 15 yr old Victron solar system which I would like to replace/ upgrade

Currently average solar production is 500 Wh with 2x 80 Wh panels

I have fridge and inverter as consumers

What would be the ideal panel / mppt configuration to replace?

Thank you for comments and help

What voltage do you have? 12 V?

If so, you don’t have four batteries in series but in parallel: one starter battery and the service battery bank.

Which modules are you considering?

For sizing the charge controller, download the Victron tool.

Thanks for the reply. I have 12 volts. Ideally, 2 × 300 Wp solar panels. But they’re probably too heavy (if they’re even available).

. I think an MPPT 100/125 would be sufficient.

Install whatever will fit on the ship, and try to get so-called 24 V modules (Umpp 37 V and higher). Uoc is usually around 50–60 V (66–72 cells is more or less standard), which represents the safety-related voltage limit.

Connect these modules in parallel. From 3 strings onwards (1 module is one string), they must be protected, because in the event of a fault, the intact strings will feed into the faulty string (with Pmpp!!).

Thank you for your answer with tips!
