Suddenly, the Quattro inverter is showing as switched off and isn’t being detected by the Color Control. The Color Control is running version 3.12. Would it be advisable to update it? How can I check whether the VE.Bus port on the Color Control is damaged?
You would need to use a mk3 USB adapter to check.
You can take a ccgx to 3.52 (I think thats the last version it supports, might be 3.55).
I doubt you just ran into a bug if nothing else has changed.

Reboot it, or just take the power supply loose and back and let it restart, check the cable and pins on both sides for damage.
