# Proposal for ESS manual update, explicit Fronius GFDPR and anti-flicker settings

Please consider an update to existing ESS manual, to reflect the specific settings for Fronius PV Inverter (connected on AC Out) and relation between Fronius Profi Menu fields and Victron ESS fields.

Many proffesional installers are aware of “criptic” field names and values found into Fronius menus that, even with a manual, are not so easy to understand.

The beginners and DIY’ers are prone to mistakes and a bit of help is alwas welcome.

I am not saying to change Fronius settings, although switching to MG50/60 is already outside of any grid standards, it is enough to check and note existing values and use it into ESS fields.

Current ESS assistant specify following values:

1. The solar converter will start reducing its output power at 50.20 Hz
2. Output power will be reduced to minimum when the frequency is 52.70 Hz
3. The converter will disconnect when the frequency is higher than 53.00 Hz

Example:

Fronius Profi Menu ESS

Freq. Inner Limit Max ? (probably 53.00 Hz)

Freq. Outer Limit Max ? (probably 53.00 Hz)

Freq. dep. Power Red sub-menu

Freq. dep. Power Red ONDisHyst

Enable limit 50.20

Derating gradient 60%/Hz (for a 52.70Hz upper limit this should be 40%)

For the anti-flicker, user [JTWallace](https://community.victronenergy.com/u/jtwallace) has [already posted a working solution](https://community.victronenergy.com/t/fronius-flickering-on-ac-out-reactive-power-settings/4266/42), including it into a manual would be a handy place to look for.

Fronius Profi menu, navigate to:

1. Normal Power Change Gr.
2. Set UpRamp and DownRamp to ON.
3. Adjust both the UpRamp Gradient and DownRamp Gradient to a value below 1%/sec (e.g. 000.90 %/sec)

I adjust Up/Down Gradient to 000.50 %/sec and is working just right. A value close to 000.90 %/sec is still causing flicker.
