Hello, I’m having trouble configuring a Multiplus 15kVA with a Fogo 11kW generator without an AVR. It refused to connect. However, after changing the country’s standard and disabling UPS mode, the generator reaches 34A on AC and doesn’t throw any errors. However, the voltage dropped from 230V to 212V. I tested the configuration with Weak AC disabled. Then, the generator didn’t stabilize and there were large fluctuations of around 10A on the AC input (the same with the dynamic current limiter disabled). The AC test also showed a reduced AC input voltage.The ESS assistant was turned off because when it was on it was very unstable to the point that it was throwing the generator Do you have any suggestions for further tests to improve compatibility with the generator?
You are going to have a hard time as your generator is smaller than your inverter. Then add a not so great avr and (speculation _ service condition) it will probably not do anything close its plate rating
What firmware are you using? There have been some recent developments so the way they interact has changed.
Generators that aren’t great will not be accepted with a grid code as they would need to meet the standard. Which most do not.
No ess with a generator is the best way.
If the generator voltage is dropping under load you need to use it with a much lower input current limit on the inverter. So 32 may be the plate ability with derating for altitude and optimal running rate. But reality is probably much lower.
Grid code none - no power assist - no dymanic limiter.
One random thing is to run a heating element directly on the generator to smooth its output. Some avrs do better like that.
The MultiPlus only works as an emergency battery charger. The 34A limit provides an actual 32A AC input, which is satisfactory, and the generator’s rated power is 9 kW/10.5 kW max. I’d like it to maintain a maximum of 7/8 kW, which is achievable, but can we achieve more, or have we reached the limit? Everything is limited to 130 A DC battery charging.
I worked off this earlier with general calculations.
11 000 * 0.8 * 0.8 = 7040w (derate for height above sea level + working at 80% capacity - best for longevity)
If you are achieving that then its the best it will be.
Will changing the generator to the fogo FV 17001 CRA which has a DVR allow us to do more and will it work stably without the weak AC function enabled which clearly limits the generator’s power?
Possibly, i have never used one.
