Hi everyone,

I’d like to suggest a feature enhancement for the Cerbo GX. Currently, as shown in the screenshot attached, the Cerbo GX can read my battery temperature. In my setup, the temperature sensor is connected to my MultiPlus 12/1600/70-16.

I want to use this temperature reading to control a heating pad for my battery via a relay in Venus OS. Unfortunately, at the moment, it seems that temperature-based control is only possible when using external sensors like the RuuviTag.

It would be extremely helpful if we could use the battery temperature values directly, as detected by the system, to configure and control relays. This feature would make it easier to manage battery heating systems without needing additional sensors.

Thank you for considering this improvement!

Best regards

I believe you can do this via Venus OS Large and NodeRed

Just connect the temperature sensor from the MultiPlus to the Cerbo and you can use that for the relay.
The MultiPlus gets still controlled by that sensor.

In my setup, I have a VE.Bus BMS V2 connected. I’m not sure if connecting the temperature sensor directly to the Cerbo GX would still allow the BMS to disable charging when the temperature drops below 5°C.

Currently, Venus OS already displays the battery temperature as it is, so it seems like it would only require a small software adjustment to enable using that value for relay control without impacting the BMS functionality.

The BMS doesn’t need the sensor, it is getting the signals directly from the batteries.
Each battery has a temperature sensor inside and is sending an ATC signal to the BMS.

The sensor at the MultiPlus is only for temperature compensation during charging but temperature compensation is disabled with the LiFePO4 charging algorithm.

Thank you for the clarification!

Are we sure that the temperature reading will still be displayed as shown in my current setup (see the attached screenshot, where it’s displayed as “3°C” for the battery)?

If I connect the sensor directly to the Cerbo GX, will it still show as the battery temperature, or will it be treated like other ambient temperature sensors (e.g., RuuviTags)?
