Pi 4B won't see victron bluetooth devices

I have a RPi 4B, running venus os large, 3.55. (same issue with latest beta). Bluetooth is enabled, and i was told i coul see all the bluetooth data from my various Victron smart/bluetooth enabled devices. i cant see any. what am i missing??

Unfortunately, Venus OS does not interface to Victron products via bluetooth. You need a VE.Direct, CANbus (or VE.Bus) connection to the external devices (connection type depends on the device).

However you will see some bluetooth temperature and tank sensors.
