I have two EasySolar 48/5000/250-100 units connected in parallel with a 10 kW PV array and a 36 kWh solar gel battery bank. The installer configured the system in parallel, but mentioned the battery is low and needs charging.
According to the manual, two EasySolar units cannot be paralleled because of the internal GX devices. To work around this, they removed the internal GX cable and power supply from one of the EasySolar units.
Now, I can only see the master controller in the system — the slave EasySolar’s controller does not appear. On the AC load side, I see L1 and L2 displayed. Is that normal behavior?
Another issue: I cannot see the battery percentage, voltage, current, or wattage. The battery always shows as discharging, even when AC loads are off. Why would that happen? Could it be that the battery settings are incorrect or set too high?
Also, I cannot buy another MultiPlus or replacement unit easily, as I live in the interior of an island and access to equipment is limited.
Any guidance from the community would be greatly appreciated.
Everything from the other GX needs to be connected to the GX that is the master. This includes the mppt
You can program the inverter to manage the data but with being off grid i would suggest using a smart shunt connected to the gx as well for a more accurate read of what’s happening with the battery.
There should be some data on the inverters to do with voltage current and percentage if the inverter battery monitor was programmed.
Since all GX devices need to be connected to the master GX, and the internal GX of the slave inverter has been disconnected, should the installers take the GX connections that were inside the slave and wire them directly into the master GX using the normal daisy‑chain approach? Also, for the MPPTs, is it correct to connect them to the master GX via VE.Direct? Finally, the screen display of the slave inverter remains off — is that expected behavior when its GX has been disabled?
Thank you for your advice. I shared it with my installer, and they followed your recommendations. They’ve asked if you could kindly review their program before switching it on, since this is their first time setting up two Easy Solar units in parallel.
Has the parallel set up been done in ve bus configurator?
Does the configuration you have shown above match your battery needs? I have no idea as i don’t know what battery you are using. So cannot comment. Is that configuration loaded on both units?
Were you wanting to use ESS to prioritise solar over grid?
The parallel configuration has been loaded on both units and the goal is to use ESS to prioritize solar over grid with no grid connection, but during a test run Ithey received a Low Battery Alarm (VE.Bus System 275) even though the battery was showing 100% with Voltage of 54.98V and Current of 0.1A. Now I can see the voltage and current and also, the state of charge, and since the system is running on 12 × 250Ah solar gel batteries. Why is it showing Low Battery Alarm?
