Orion XS Reverse Charging

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if there’s any update on the long-requested feature to enable reverse charging (charging the starter battery from the house battery during extended parking or when connected to shore power).

This feature has been on the request list for several years now, but there hasn’t been any visible progress or official statement. Meanwhile, several other manufacturers have already implemented similar functionality, which makes the absence of it here even more noticeable.

Orion XS reverse charging as software update

It was already a feature request: reverse charging with the new Orion XS, but it’s still not available. As a result the Votronic DC-DC is recommended, if you need this feature. But Votronic is stone-age compared to Orion XS. Any schedule, when reverse charging will be implemented? As i understand, the Orion XS hardware is perfectly able to do the reverse charging, it’s just a software issue… Thanks Joerg

Can we get any information about whether this feature is still planned or on the development roadmap?

I guess someone knows it and I’m sure it will come some day but it will be not officially announced until it’s ready.

I’ll add to the list of users that would like to see this. I’m currently running a Sterling 1224120 12-24v for my house 24v bank and it has this feature. I purchased two Orion XS1400 units as soon as they were available to replace my sterling for DVCC and Venus integration support. I had hoped by now this feature would be available as the other thread is over a year old. Orion XS reverse charging as software update - #16 by M_Lange I still haven’t installed my XS1400 units so I really hope that this doesn’t require a hardware revision.
