Help with an Orion-Tr Smart Non-isolated DC/DC charger.

The unit has been installed and working fine for about 5 years. Recently it stopped charging and the green LED began flashing 17 times, then staying solid for around 5 seconds before repeating. At the time of the fault, input voltage from the alternator was approximately 14 VDC, but there was no output voltage.

I purchased a new Orion-Tr Smart Non-isolated DC/DC charger and installed it. Unfortunately, I’m seeing exactly the same behaviour. What this LED pattern indicates and suggest any likely causes or troubleshooting steps?

I do not know what the code means, the closest in the manual is bulk/ absorption charging.

You need to do some basic system checking with a multimeter if there is no voltage on the output, it should always see the battery voltage of the battery being charged as a minimum. You need a multimeter to check all wiring for loose connections, blown fuses or breakers/ switches that could have failed. Do this on the positive and negative connections. On a vehicle vibration often results in loose wiring.

Have checked with a multimeter, with battery connected it reads 12.3v, battery disconnected 14vdc. It’s like the supply is switching off for some reason. The battery charges fine of the mains charger.
