Good day all! Can anyone confirm if there is a built in panel backflow diode on the SmartSolar MPPT 100|50 charge controller, or will I need to add a seperate diode to my setup? Thanks in advance!
If you are concerned that the battery will discharge to the solar panels that does not happen. No additional switchgear needed to prevent it.
What can happen is a faulty panel can discharge power out of the damaged section from the other panels but that is a separate issue.

Thank you! I was always taught to add a backflow diode to the panel circuit to prevent the battery discharging to the panel as night. Guess that isn’t an issue anymore. Appreciate your feedback!
On some of the older pwm style solar chargers you did need to add them. But tech has moved on since then and so has solar panel construction.
