Anybody have any advice on best practice for the earthing arrangement for an off grid system. Should the system be allowed to float or is it best to connect the Power in neutral bar to the Earth electrode I have seen victron say both are acceptable but what is best for an off grid system ? Cheer
Earthing of the Battery negative in an off grid system depends on:
Local Regulations.
Manufacturer’s recommendations
Personal choice.
In order of priority.
Technically the reason for grounding the negative of the battery would be to prevent the build up of dangerous voltages in the case of a fault. If all of the battery wiring is fully insulated, and the batteries are enclosed this could be a minor issue.
