So I’ve had a victron ip65 3. Bank 30 amp hour charger. For approximately 4 years in that time I have had that many dramas with it charging but no amperage. I’ve had fuses continuously melting. The fan hasn’t run from the start and finally I think it’s given up for good. I must admit it was a good charger when it worked but I think they’re too smart for their own good. Honestly not sure whether to spend the money again on a new one or to look somewhere else going through what everyone’s saying here There is a lot of problems with these chargers when it comes to the capacitors which has been by the sound of it My problem from the start. I’ve had to Jimmy rig it because of how badly it melted the fuze holder. a couple years ago. Since then it’s worked fine until today and when you live and work, where I do. In the middle of East Arnhem land in the northern territory, you need reliability and access to Be able to fix these sorts of things. Am I on the right track or am I just being a whinger. Don’t worry you won’t hurt my feelings. I just want honesty and that’s why I’ve joined us group to try and find that.
Depending on if you really need the 3 bank charger, or whether 1 or 2 banks will suffice?
If you really need a 3 bank charger, then replacing it would be a good option.
If you only need one main bank, and an auxiliary trickle charge, then look at replacing the charger with a multiplus inverter/charger.
if the 3rd bank is also needed then an option would be use the inverter/charger and a separate single bank charger.
The inverter/chargers are sometimes cheaper than the dedicated chargers.
And if you want remote, try 1600 miles of water between you and the nearest land!!!
