I have CCGX installation I want to enhance with Node-RED capabilities. What I was considering:
1/ Change CCGX for Ekrano or Cerbo.

- Suprisingly impossible at my place, because all three possible displays (Ekrano, Touch 50,70) are wider than original CCGX, which sits in nice handmade glass panel with lighting buttons ☹

2/ Add Raspberry Pi with Node-RED
I can point Victron nodes to dbus and use them, but AFAIK I will not have the VRM tunnel to it and cannot use dashboard remotely (unless I built another tunnel)

3/ Add Raspberry Pi (or Cerbo) with Venus OS and point Victron nodes to CCGX dbus
Supposedly will not work, and I will have actually “two” installations on VRM ..??

I am missing something?

Thanks for any ideas.

@Karel
What did you eventually decide to do?

You can host the node red on the pi (even venus os large) and query data from the CCGX to use for automation.

The pi can also be a different vrm installation as well. It doesn’t need to be to be on the vrm though as long as they share the same local network.

Well, in the end client decided for 1/, as he wanted also to change some texts in that “handmade glass panel with lighting buttons”, so we also added a place for Touch 50 and I replaced CCGX by Cerbo. It is easy when you do not care of few $$$ 🙂

I run Node-RED on a separate device (iHost) connected to the same router.
But so far I did not realy succed ☹
