But Grid Meter is set to Inverter/Charger … not the Shelly … or do you use the Shelly for other stuff and not for the Grid Metering ? But Inverter/Charger would work … because you have ALL the Loads on AC Out ! But I still don’t understand… Is the ESS working now, or are you getting error messages in the console? ---

I use Shelly EM for other purposes, I use it for Home Assistant . It was there before the Multi. If I manually Change to inverter it works and if I use the Venus Schedule charger it works. but It doesn’t work to power Assists or to use the Dynamic ESS. But that’s not what ESS was developed for… ESS always stays connected to the power grid… otherwise it doesn’t make sense. BUT ESS is working now … or not ? What is the technical purpose of your system? ---

No, it is not working. The system never uses the battery while the grid is connected. The only way to make the battery discharge is by completely disconnecting the grid. This is the actual problem and the reason why I am trying to activate the grid code. In _On_ mode, I am not able to use the battery at all. That is why I initially thought the issue might be related to the grid code configuration. ---

But that has nothing to do with your ESS problem… it has to do with battery usage and a possible misconfiguration… “As you wrote : Whenever I apply these Grid codes, the unit **fails to accept the grid** and enters a loop (restarts / grid not accepted). As a consequence, **ESS remains in state #3 (“ESS disabled** because no valid grid code / grid not accepted”).” So… ESS is working… we can see that… … Now on to the next problem Show us your ‘compilation’ of the ESS Assistant… you can display this in the assistant overview… your system does not seem to accept the battery yet… ---

That looks good… the BMS is releasing the charge and discharge. 👍 Have you adjusted the voltage values in the “Charger” section to match your battery? ![grafik](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/victron/original/3X/b/8/b8ead860b228937961f08403ceb3f4da7804386f.png) Then you should charge the battery to 100% SOC… but to do this, the voltage values from the charger must be correct… see above. There are situations where the battery is only released for discharge once the system has been charged to 100% SOC. Even I have changed to II, just in case it came wrongly installed but is ok. Now is again in I. That’s completely normal… the Multi can also be used as a battery monitor… that’s why it’s important that the battery is selected as the battery monitor… so everything is OK. You should deactivate DESS and first see if the “normal” ESS control works with the Spanish grid code. Since you have selected “NONE” … and therefore no “Spanish grid code,” DESS will not work either. Whether DESS works the way you imagine it is another matter… there are always problems with the control here… the settings are particularly important for it to work properly… ---

Nothing. DESS is deactivated and battery at 100% and still not getting energy from Battery. During weekend I will start from scratch to discard anything with the software or the installation.
