Part 1 is correct — excess feed-in disabled? — you mean DC-coupled surplus feed-in? If so, okay then (I don’t know, but it’s not an option for me anyway) — part 3: hmm, up to now I’ve interpreted this as being purely a status indicator: if the PV modules are producing more than is currently needed, it shows as active; otherwise it doesn’t. ???

By the way, I’m from Austria, Lower Austria, in the EVN supply area — there’s no 30 or 60%, only 0 or 100%, and most systems are limited to a maximum feed-in of 4 kW (at least that’s my understanding!).

I wasn’t aware that this was standard practice in Austria.

ÜS: yes, surplus feed-in — I was too lazy to write it out.

The “Yes” appears at the bottom as soon as Modbus control is active, regardless of whether the sun is currently shining or not. And the setting “AC-coupled surplus feed-in” would be better named “Modbus control AC inverter” … at least in my opinion. If you switch off AC-coupled surplus feed-in, the Fronius moves to the next priority because Modbus control is simply switched off, and what is defined as priority 2 is anyone’s guess … but anyway.

In any case, AC-coupled surplus feed-in must be enabled even when grid feed-in is set to 0 so that Modbus control is active at all.

You have to ask at least three people at EVN (but always an odd number) to get a majority answer. 😄 .

I completely agree with you. I also think setting feed-ins to 0 is OK and necessary. It’s also predictable for the energy supply company; after all, it can see what is being fed in.
What it (YET) can’t see is what the systems it wants to switch off are currently consuming themselves and therefore suddenly draw from the grid after being switched off—and whether that is actually what it wants, I very much doubt.
So far, I haven’t seen a single system where Netz NÖ has plugged a cable into the prepared RJ45 socket, so let’s wait and see….

You can also follow the instructions… at least it works with my Symo 8.2-3-M.

Question about Aux 1: I think it’s common knowledge by now that it only needs to be connected to the master, but is this officially documented anywhere? There’s a wiring diagram linked in the third post, but unfortunately it’s only for Germany.

Where do you need it?

Austria, specifically Netz NÖ. There must be something available there too, right?

Just ask your electrician or the grid operator whether the German solution is OK.

Hello Christoph,

if the WLV is implemented as intended by Netz NÖ, there should be no problem: [Netz NÖ – Parallel operation conditions](https://netz-noe.at/downloads?filterText=parallellaufbedingungen), see Appendix 8.

The technical implementation at Victron will probably not be of much interest to the technician from EVN; what will matter to him is that the WLV works, and that zero feed-in is configured as intended under the Grid Code “TOR Erzeuger Typ A” and with the “jumper” on AUX1 of the master.

Kind regards

Markus

The problem is that the electrician refused to cooperate. After a lengthy discussion with him and Netz NÖ, he has finally been persuaded to agree after all.

It is generally known that the Master acts as a power plant controller in this case, but it has not been officially documented as such.

Apparently, I’ve had bad luck with my electrician… But at least it’s all worked out in the end.
