We have bought a boat with a range of Victron kit on board. This includes two Victron Phoenix Multiplus 24v3000va70amp. I presume they are wired to master and slave configuration. I also understand that the cable configuration should be the same on each. However I am seeing an extra cable going into the slave that is not also going into the master. This is important because I think it delivers charging to the bow thruster bank and that bank is not charging on shore power.
The slave shows mains on but no charging activity
Is this an issue? And if it is how do I get it sorted?
First you need to make sure where exactly that extra cable connects to in the MP.
If it is connected to the trickle charge output, then that output will work independent of the state of its MP. The trickle charger is a simple diode and a self-resetting fuse, thats it. Once the MP has DC voltage on its DC terminals the trickle charger will output a voltage slightly lower
Thats quite the cable, that would be a bit thick for just the trickle charge. I guess you have to take the cover off and look where its actually connected to
I have traced it as far as possible and yes - it does end up at the bow thruster battery bank. I am going to get someone in who can do a more serious diagnostic than I am capable of given the potential issues
