Multiplus not visible in VRM Instances - Not linking to Node RED

I have a technical issue and I am hoping someone can help me troubleshoot it.

System setup

Hardware
MultiPlus-II
Pylontech US5000 (4x)
MPPT 250/100 with 12 solar panels
Additional components: temperature sensor, generator

The system is fully off-grid. All devices are running the latest firmware versions.

Context

About a month ago I started working with Node-RED on the Cerbo GX. At that point everything worked correctly. All devices were visible in Node-RED and could be read without issues.

I then added a Shelly device to automate boiler control this week. The goal is to reduce peak loads, for example:

  • Turn boiler off during high loads

  • Turn boiler off when generator is running

  • Turn boiler off at night

  • Use excess solar intelligently etc.

Current problem

Since that change, I can no longer see the MultiPlus-II inverter inside Node-RED.

In addition:

  • Only the Shelly, batteries, generator, and MPPT are visible

  • The MultiPlus-II is missing from both Node-RED device selection and VRM Device Instances

  • The Node-RED device block for the inverter stays greyed out and cannot be selected

What I already tried

  • Full system reboot

  • Removing and reconnecting all cables

  • Rescanning devices

  • Updating all firmware

  • Restarting Node-RED

  • Verifying VRM device list

Result

Despite all of the above, the MultiPlus-II still does not appear anywhere in:

  • Node-RED device list

  • VRM Device Instances

Node-RED itself is running normally on the Cerbo GX Large image, and everything else functions as expected. The only exception is the missing inverter visibility.

Question

Has anyone seen this before, where a MultiPlus-II disappears from both VRM and Node-RED while all other devices remain visible?

Any direction would be appreciated. The system is working in general.

Hi,

There is a VE.Bus device unit ID 227 in your screen shot. Is that shot from after the MultiPlus disappeared from the VRM device list?

Have you replaced the VE.Bus cable with another (e.g. factory made Cat5/6 cable), and tried both sockets available at the inverter and Cerbo?

The inverter switch can be overidden from Node Red and from the VRM dashboard (drop down from icon) if it is enabled in VRM settings (with a warning). This seems an unlikely cause as your inverter is actually running isn’t it. If in doubt, save your Node Red flows and fully reset the Cerbo Node Red - this can be done from Remote Console.

Hi Craigy, thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, this is all after the MultiPlus disappeared from the VRM device list. The VE.Bus device (ID 227) is still visible on the Cerbo GX, and the inverter is running normally.

The VE.Bus cable is relatively new (around 1 year), installed in a closed cabinet, and has not been replaced recently. I have not swapped cables or ports yet.

I already performed a full Cerbo GX reboot and also reset Node-RED on the system, but the MultiPlus is still not appearing in VRM or Node-RED.

althoug my system is running fine, MO2 vissible, i don´t have an instance for it in the list you showd - so no need to look there for the fault

Hi all,

An update. I did shut down the system, took the Cerbo off the power for a few minutes, did start the multiplus and after a few minutes the cerbo on again.

For some reason I can still not see the inverter. I have no idea where to look next, anyone?

As you can see, it’s empty and grayed out. For some reason the Shelly and Pylontech are working and in the list.
