We have a multiplus 12/3000 120V that shows a current of 9A when there is no load and when the breaker for the load is turned on the current drops to 4A. Anyone has an idea as to what may be causing that higher current draw with no load? All connections have been checked and torqued over to insure that wasn’t a cause.
This is probably capacitative current (A reactive current) flowing in the wiring. As this drops significantly when the AC output breaker is turned off, This is probably the case, if you have a lot of wiring connected.
However, you should also check each connected circuit individually, to see if there is any resistive leakage load.
