Multiplus II 3000 24 70 BATTERIES 2 24V LI TIme 230 Amp each I am getting over load message at 115 amp DC draw batteries26.6 add load drop 26
4 v at 2300 watts red light on till i reduce load .I noticed it the other day 1500 watt draw fridge started and light came on for second. so today i load tested it this is what i found
Been up and running my home for past 6 months I Checked wires fuse And all the connections as well installed the update. I think it was 6 or 9 just a day. Can’t remember the number on it. That didn’t help neither didn’t change nothing. It’s been working and is working now trouble-free.just not getting full power
Yes. If you check the manual, the “true” rating is 2400w continuous at roughly room temp. The 3000 rating is VA, not watts. So it appears you are just barely hitting your max load on the unit.
So basically you got rooked (just like me).

I saw 3000 and thought 3000W, turns out I’m not the only sucker in this business. I have their solar MPPT controllers and can manage them with BT so I bought an “upgrade” inverter from 2000 → 3000 W only it was a lie and I got a 2400W inverter that can put out 3000VA. And guess what? I can’t manage it with BT either without buying a special dongle that has extremely low functionality and an almost $100USD price tag. I’ve become very wary of Victron products as a result. Lesson learned, just because everyone else is buying blue, doesn’t mean you have to.
Gemini created the chart based on things it looked up. But when I checked Xantrex and Samlex on Amazon, they are indeed rated in watts, not VA. Not sure about Magnum, they aren’t sold on Amazon.
And we aren’t alone: Only 4kw discharge on a 5kw multiplus
Don’t fall for their marketing…
With a powerfactor of exactly 1 the output will be 3000 watt. At 0,9 it will be 2700 watt. And when the powerfactor gets worse the watts will drop more.
When you connect a resistor (powerfactor 1) it should deliver 3000 watts.
When you connect appliances like televisions, microwaves, led bulbs etc, the powerfactor may drop below 0,9 or even below 0.8.
You can test it with a 3000 watt water heater.
So under real world conditions it won’t perform as expected, I’m in the tropics, i have no need of resistive heat. I have real home appliances to power. This is deceptive advertising to say the least. You see how small the VA font is compared to the 3000?
can you program it with the cerbo gx? No, fork over more money for a mk3 usb dongle. Luxury pricing for a budget product.
It is rated 3000VA not W. Everything is clearly stated in the datasheet… I also made the mistake thinking it was W instead of VA because I didn’t read the datasheet.
1500watt fridge is also a ‘lie’ about its rating. Also that oretty darm high for a fridge unless it is an open disp5or something fairly specialised.
This will have a much higher Peak start current (hence the short overload - which is to some degree acceptable as the inverter can do 100% overload for a few seconds) and its power factor will show its VA rating to be mich higher than sticker watt rating.
Heat derating is a factor most DIY people overlook. And it is stated in the datasheet.
This is also why you should never trust AI.
Read the specs yourself - The Samlex PST-3000 is only 3kW if the load has a PF of 1 (just like the MultiPlus). The Magnum MS2000 is 2000VA, not 2000W, so also will only produce 2kW when the load has a PF of 1.
The lesson to be learned here is to read -and understand, which may require some time studying the basic physics and principles at play- the datasheets and user manuals of power components as made available by the manufacturer, not Amazon listings or AI, prior to purchasing components from any brand at all.
The only real difference between any of the brands linked is that Victron is honest about saying 3000VA instead of 3000W.
You don’t need a MK3 if you have a GX device (that is connected to the VRM portal)
Surprisingly i understood the difference between VA and W, plus i looked at spec sheet for items i purchased before purchasing.
As such i wasn’t disappointed with my blue purchase.
Also i learnt with the gx device i had on short list, all setting up / programming was fully achievable with a simple cheap LAN cable & computer.
