Dear Support,

My new Multiplus II 12/5000 seems to have a VE.BUS Problem.

I’ve tried almost everything, including adjusting the Settings .

I can’t establish a CConnection via MK3 and USB-C to my Mobile Device (VictronConnect) or PC (USB-A). It connects to my Microsoft Surface, but the settings aren’t visibl e.

Even when I connect the Multiplus (VE.BUS) to the Cerbo, it shows up as “unknown” in the Device li st.

What could be the problem? Should I urgently configure my Multiplus for Lithium Batter ies?

Thank you for any feedback.
 Best Regards, Hubert

That kind of RJ45 cable did you use?

Try an other normal Rj45 network cable

You have to enable settings and probably update it as well.
It would be helpful to know what firmware you may be on, also mentioned in the manual is the minimum requirement for using Victron Connect

I really need to charge the Lithium Batteries. Is there another way?
For example, with the VE.Bus Smart Dongle, there is no admin or installer mode for the full MultiPlus settings.

Hello again,

just don’t understand the World of Victron anymore!
I’ve got a new Multiplus and it’s not working.

The following issues are occurring:

- The Multiplus appears on the Device list of the Cerbo, but with an ‘unknown’ Status.
- I can’t connect the MK3 to my Mobile, my old PC (USB-A) or my Surface (USB-C).
- The Digital MultiControl isn’t working on the VE.BUS

It has been tested with both VE.BUS.

The yacht is moored in Puerto Williams.

Thank you for your feedback.

Kind regards,
Hubert

These are professional products for professional installers.
You seem to have bitten off more than you can chew.
Go to [https://www.victronenergy.com/where-to-buy](https://www.victronenergy.com/where-to-buy) and find a regional supplier who can help.
You can mail the local area manager for pointers as well - [Contact - Victron Energy](https://www.victronenergy.com/contact)

Coming to a technical community assumes a base level of experience with products, we can only help you if you can help us and yourself to get to a resolution.

Language challenges aside, this just doesn’t seem like something that can be done remotely.

Hello Victron,

I’m an Electronics Engineer.

I also have Victron Professional… I’ve already fitted Victron products on three Yachts.

Are these two VE.Bus-compatible?

Many thanks for your Help.

Kind regards, Hubert

Guys, Puerto Williams is the southernmost town in Chile, the starting place for a lot of Antarctic adventures… I’m sure Hubert’s nearest Victron expert is a thousand km away, or it’s him! His handle means he is circumnavigating the world.

@weltumsegeln perhaps we could figure out what is wrong with the MK3 to PC/Surface connection, and once that works, then move on to the Multiplus.

Disconnect the Multiplus from the Cerbo, and then let’s set up the MK3 on a Windows computer.

Does the MK3 show up in the Windows Device Manager, under Ports (COM & LPT)? If it has a yellow triangle /!\ there is an error - check what the error says. Here’s what a working MK3 looks like:

 ![MK3_comport](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/victron/original/3X/7/e/7e1207cfdc933f9fca1cfe224e7b872a6d3701a0.png)

You can download the FTDIchip drivers for it here: [https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/](https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/)

In the VEConfig software, you might need to specify that COM port - it’s COM4 in my example.

 ![VEConfig_port](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/victron/original/3X/8/8/88f21287a6c236899430df6820fd87d4b5961afc.png)

Connect the MK3 to the Multiplus.

See if it will talk.

Good luck!

Victron do provide the correct offline drivers if the device is not internet attached, which seems unlikely with the ability to post topics.

Is there another Solution to verified the Problem?

VE.BUS does not connect to 3 different Solution (All with two VE.BUS Posts and RJ45 Cables):

- VictronConnect on Android Phone with USB-C
- VictronConnect on a PC with USB-A
- VeConfig on a PC with USB-A
- MultiControl on VE-Bus
- Cerbo Devicelist unknow

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get hold of a second MK3 in Time.
I’m flying Home for two Months.

But I really do think both VE.BUS Ports are faulty.
I’d be glad if someone could prove me wrong.

This isn’t supported.

This is local over bluetooth, not wired.

The multi has 1 vebus interface that has two parallel connectors.

Did you disconnect the Cerbo GX? You cannot use the mk3 and GX simultaneously.
Make sure you have no overlapping com ports on windows and to manually choose the right interface in veconfigure - do not use auto.

I would encourage you to rather repost this in the German speaking section where it may be easier to guide in your natural language.
