I have 4 Cerbo devices running on network made up of 1 Victron Cerbo and 3 Raspi, the problem is the android keeps changing automatically from one cebro to another, I am wanting to lock the android device down to just one Cerbo device and stop the cycling to the other Cerbo device, is there a way to go about doing this lock
This has been a problem for me since the first release. We also have multiple GX devices on our network at any given time. The only way I could keep an Android GX device connected to a single GX box is to segment the network (i.e. VLAN) for each pair.
I had that problem initially - jumping randomly to other GX devices on my network. I got around it by connecting the Android tablet to the Cerbo’s internal wifi access point and forgetting all other wifi networks. Probably won’t work with a RPi (no AP).
I joined the wifi Cerbo network and it works but I have to be close by, where I want to locate the android display the Cerbo wifi access point signal is too weak and unstable and drops out and will not reconnect until I get close the the Cerbo access point again
Does it do this if you use IP as the connection address?
Have you updated to v1.2 or v1.5beta1?
Starting with v1.2, we’ve made improvements to prevent the app from jumping between GXs.
I’ve had the problem ever since the app was released. I still have exactly the same problem with v1.2 and v1.5beta1.
Yes running the current update v1.2
Today I am going to purchase a TP-Link RE305 AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender and connect it to the Cerbo’s inbuilt wifi network and see if I can extend the range that will hopefully allow me to run it on the android display further away than just relying on the Cerbo
Just set up a “fresh” phone (Samsung S7 edge on Android 8) running v1.2 and I have 3 devices: 1 Cerbo and 2 Pi Zero 2s.
The device list only shows the Cerbo (with serial #) and one of the Pis, which shows no serial number. Regardless of whether I select the Pi that’s found, or manually enter the other IP, it endlessly switches back and forth between the two Pi installs.
EDIT: Updated to v1.5beta1, same behavior. Also logged into VRM with an access token which didn’t fix it.
I have found a workaround that has been running for a day now by using a TP-Link RE305 AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender configure to run with the Victron Cerbo’s wifi network this has extended to range from my outside battery room to my loungeroom, I have noticed that the range extender has a wired LAN port so just wondering if it can be extended further through the wired network with a wifi access point at the end of the LAN cable, but untested as I have enough range now over wifi
