Multi RS 48/6000 stuck in storage mode with LiFePo4

Hi I’ve installed a 3 phase ESS based on Multi-RS with one 32kwh LifePo 4 battery.

the battery has JK BMS and is connected to Cerbo GX and the Cerbo GX can read the settings.

I put the settings on LifePo4 but the the multi RS is stuck in storage mode.

it disabled the PV and it draws the battery fully empty before recharging.

My settings are zero-export and 30% reserve for poweroutages

Battery settings are listed in the screenshots.

Anyone who can tell me how to disable this annoying storage mode.

Battery settings look a bit like defaults - maybe for a Lead Acid setup.

  • What’s the actual battery setup? eg is this a home-made single LiFePO4 48V battery? How many cells?
  • Equalization voltage seems a bit high by a couple of volts
  • Battery monitor section seems off - e.g. Peukert Coefficient of 1.25 is default for lead acid, not typical for LiFePO4. Discharge floor could be 80% for many LFPs, vs 50% for Lead.
  • SOC settings?

Might want to sort that first, so the batteries are reporting happy to Multi RS

Other folks will have further suggestions I’m sure.

Hi Buzzy,

the battery is the EEL 32kwh (16x MB56) with JK BMSV19

so it’s preassembled.

SOC settings for now are just use it till 0%.
What are recommended settings to change in the victron Multi RS for LFP.

because it still doesn’t tackle the issue of going into storage mode which according to victron only activates when the battery type is LeadAcid and not while in LifePo4…

Extra screenshots of the settings:

Honestly, I don’t know what is going on here - there are discrepancies between these settings.

If there hasn’t been a draw on the batteries, then Storage Mode happens for Pb. Not sure what is happening with LFP.

Guessing, your batteries are too discharged to be used for inverting. For example - State of Charge = 32% which is below the Battery Monitor 50% floor.

Do you have a data sheet or manual for that Chinese EEL battery kit? I did a quick google, but could not find one. It should have a list of the values - eg Low battery shutdown at 40.2V. Charge detect more like 50V, so that it knows that the batteries are above the shutdown, not 56V because it will take a long time to get there.

Maybe someone familiar with that Chinese EEL battery kit will have more ideas.

Reset the inverter to factory defaults.
Test for a short time to see if it will charge from solar and grid.

Then re program the battery charge settings to lithium and edit them and the other basics.
Storage mode is set to the same value as float with lithium

When I enabled DVCC in the cerbo it seems to solve it for now. howevery I’m certain there is a bug in the victron multi rs firmware that when selecting LifePo4 as battery type it still forces storage mode which should only happen when having Lead-Acid battery type.

DVCC is intended for batteries with own BMS and you should use it like that. the firmwares LiFePo4 profile i think it is for victron batteries using Lynx bms and lynx shunt.
