MPPT RS quiz answer wrong

Of interest to @guystewart probably;

In the MPPT RS quiz (2.1 - MPPT RS - Basic Training) , question #3
Active cooling allows what operating temperature range for the MPPT RS

  • -25 to +65C
  • -25 to +40C
  • -40 to +65C
  • -40 to +85C

The spec sheet doesn’t list any of those, but the does say;

Operating temperature range : -40 to +60 °C (fan assisted cooling)

So either the spec has been adjusted down from 65 to 60, or the quiz has a typo?

Thanks,

Operating temp reduced by 5 degrees since originally published I think.

Fixed now.

Cool.

For this one;

https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-BMS-overview-EN.pdf says this;

Feature highlights common to all models:
• Specifically designed for use with our Lithium Smart Battery 12,8 V & 25,6 V range.
• Communicates directly with the lithium battery via the battery’s M8 circular connector cables.
• Protects the lithium battery cells from overvoltage, undervoltage or a too low or high temperature by turning off loads or
charge sources via its “load disconnect” and “charge disconnect“ terminals.
• The maximum number of batteries that can be connected to the BMS is 20

@guystewart some updates to the Smart BMS quiz

  1. How many battery strings can be paralleled using Victron Lithium batteries?
  • 4
  • 5
  • 6
  • Any number

The documentation says 20 as far as i can tell, but “Any Number” is not correct, apparently its 5.

Then i found this;

The maximum limits as until now documented in datasheet and manual have been, on purpose, conservative. After having more experience, and more time spent on testing in R&D, we are confident to be able to increase the maximum system sizes.

The rule was max. 5 batteries, or max. 5 battery strings, in parallel.

Per now the new rule is a maximum of 20 batteries in total. Ie. no more limit on how many parallel batteries/battery-strings that results in.
Documentation is being updated.

This one might be an anachronism - plenty of batteries are warranted for 10,000+ cycles to 80 or even 90% DOD now.

Shouldn’t this say “What is the maximum nominal battery bank voltage” … max battery bank voltage will be closer to 58v

Thanks for the swag!

Welcome, it’s a bit of a weird grab bag, but that’s how victron does it
