Mounting SmartShunt IP65 on a Trailer Frame

Can the SmartShunt IP65 be mounted safely on the inside of a trailer A-frame, exposed to road grime and weather? I know with the rating it should be fine, but what about having the negative battery connections at the shunt exposed at all times? Any concerns with road grime over time or snow/ice in the winter?

Because of how the trailer was wired from factory, this is the easiest placement without a very substantial rewire. Unfortunately it cannot be place inside the battery box.

Thanks in advance!

IP65 is not waterproof, only water-resistant, and additionally no IP rating provided would apply to road chemicals and etc; I definitely would not recommend mounting it in an unprotected area.

Maybe just get a little plastic project box to mount the unit inside, and mount the project box to the trailer frame?
