Microgrid – off-grid solution within an interconnected system

Hi everyone,

I’d like to tell you a little more about our off-grid system / microgrid.

Our four microgrids currently supply our administration building, six EV charging points, an apartment building with five units, and two semi-detached houses. Further large-scale expansion is already in the planning stage.

Microgrid 1–3 specs:

  • PV capacity: approx. 60kWp (north, south, façade), bifacial in-roof modules with rear ventilation
  • Inverter capacity per microgrid: 3x (L1, L2, L3) Quattro 48V / 15kVA, total capacity: 135kVA
  • Battery capacity: 327,7 kWh

Microgrid 4 specs:

  • PV capacity: approx. 33kWp (south, east, west), bifacial in-roof modules with rear ventilation
  • Inverter capacity: 3x (L1, L2, L3) Quattro 48V / 15kVA, total capacity: 45kVA
  • Battery capacity: 81,9 kWh

More facts:

  • Two standard PV systems feed into our off-grid network
  • A Victron PV system supplies additional energy to the microgrid

Looking ahead:

  • In the short term, our 49kW wood-fired CHP plant (wood-chip CHP) will feed into the off-grid network from November to March
  • Wood-chip storage shed: microgrid with 180kWp PV capacity
  • Building 10: microgrid with 50kWp PV capacity
  • Building 12: microgrid with 130kWp PV capacity

So far, we’re very happy with it, and we’ll continue down this path even more enthusiastically, drawing on the experience and contacts we’ve gained through the Victron TechHub. Enquiries from industry have reinforced our decision.

Especially when it comes to our patented PV rail, or our PV mounting system—for example, for car park canopies—this could prove to be an ideal solution in the future.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like more information about our microgrid. We’re also happy to show our system to anyone interested.

Sunny regards,

Steffen

Impressive, looks great
