Lynx Distributor Power indicator

Good day,

Today I energised my solar system that includes 2 x lynx distributor and I can see that the battery and charging and discharging, however, I do not see and LED indicator that the distributors are online.

Do I need to do any thing special to get the power LED lit?

The distributor LEDs (power and fuse fault detection) need a Lynx BMS or alternatively some DIY solution to work.

Thanks, I was under the impression that it would automagically lit up when the batteries are energised

There are other ways, official and hacks, about how to power the LEDs. In short, they need about 5.5v (USB) to power up with various capabilities. Search on this site and on YouTube.

I mad up a cable with a telphone connector (6 pin ) and an old USB cable, then plugged that into one of the USB ports on the Cerbo. There should be an ‘official’ cable for this…

@MikeD I did pretty much the same thing but using the included RJ10/11 cable instead of a new telephone connector. What happened to your cable?

The major difference with @BjoernK solution, you won’t have the data in the GX and VRM.

It all depends on what you want to achieve.

They came with the RJ11 cables but did not see any USB also, I am not using any Cerbo, I only have the 2 x Lynx Distributors

Thanks @BjoernK I will definitely be looking into this, all I want is to have the lights on the distributor.

Then you can use a small phone type 5V / USB charger, and make up the USB/RJ11 cable. Then the 2 distributors can be linked. If your install does not have AC power available for the charger, then a small dc/dc converter is needed to produce the 5V. Personally I would have designed these distributors to be self powered…
