Lithium upgrade with a Multiplus Compact

Hi,

I’m upgrading my lead acid battery with a Fogstar Drift 300ah battery and replacing the AC-DC battery charger with a MultiPlus Compact. Apart from the switches, fuses, cable, etc is there any more equipment I need to make this work?

I keep seeing things that hint I need some sort of battery monitoring, but is that for me or the Multiplus?

I’ve seen reports that the Frogstar BMS is quite poor at tracking state of charge, primarily due to poor current resolution. However, the system needs a GX device so as the BMS communication can control the charging of the battery. So the GX links the BMS data to a control signal for the inverter/charger. Without this, it is possible for the battery to go into an over-voltage state and disconnect.

Might be nice to have a remote switch or VE. Bus Smart Dongle to operate the inverter via bluetooth, especially if its not convenient to get to the inverter all the time.
