I would like to configure the Orion‑TR‑Smart to charge only the lithium house bank (set to 14.6 V Li profile) and keep starter and house banks electrically isolated except during charging. This to let me charge the Li bank to 14.6 V per the manufacturer recommendations while keeping the vehicle charging system and starter battery behaviour unchanged for warranty compliance.
As the Smart alternator’s start/bulk charging target will typically be in the 14.0–14.8 V range when actively charging; however it will frequently drops the system voltage down (around 12.4–13.0 V) during normal driving, then raises it briefly to ~14–14.8 V to replenish the starter battery as needed, which is what I would like to avoid to protect the house banc and the fridge which is connected to the cab battery.
Would adding a battery‑to‑battery isolator or automatic ACR/VSR relays be a solution?
